Danica
G. Byler, M.A., LCPC, NCC |
Danica Byler is the clinic director for New Horizons
and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor
as well as a National Certified Counselor. She
has a special interest in working with couples
but sees a variety of clients including those
with depression, anxiety, and other concerns.
She graduated from Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville in 2001 with a Masters Degree in
Clinical Adult Psychology. Danica currently is
undergoing advanced training to become a Gottman

Roger
Gunther, LCSW
|
Roger
Gunther graduated from Washington University
in 1983 with a Master of Social Work degree.
He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in
both IL and MO. His specialties include
marital therapy and grief and bereavement
counseling. He also specializes in treating
adjustment and life stage transition issues.
His professional interest is in the area of
addiction and it's effect on the family.
While Roger's tenure with New Horizons began
in October of 2006, he has been in practice
treating individuals, couples and families
for over 20 years. |

Dr.
Jewell is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist
as well as a Certified School Psychologist,
and is one of only a few professionals
in the state with both credentials.
He received his Ph.D. from the University
of Texas at Austin.
He
is currently Assistant Professor and
a full-time psychology faculty member
at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Dr. Jewell completed a one-year internship
at Father Flanagan’s Boy’s
Home in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr.
Jewell works with children, adolescents, and
families, and specializes in behavioral disorders
and mood disorders in adolescents. Dr. Jewell
has experience with psychoeducational assessment,
psychological assessment and risk assessment.

Don
Krohn, M.A., LCPC, NCC |
Don
Krohn is a Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor as well as a National Certified
Counselor. He received his Master’s
Degree in Clinical Adult Psychology from Southern
Illinois University Edwardsville. His behavioral
health experience has entailed university,
outpatient, hospital and private practice
settings. He works with adults, couples
and adolescents. His areas of specialty
include depression, anxiety, substance abuse,
personality disorders, GLBT issues, couples
therapy and multicultural concerns.

Eve
Kuckuck, M.A., LCPC, ATR |
Eve
Kuckuck is a Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor as well as a
Registered Art Therapist and received her
Masters Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling
from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. With
over 8 years experience, Eve has worked in multiple
clinical settings including schools, community
and private counseling centers, and inpatient
and outpatient hospital care. She has specialized
training in therapeutic art and creative play
with children. Eve also enjoys working
with adolescents as well as adults. Her
professional interests include working with
grief and loss, adjustment to divorce for children
and parents, anxiety management, depression
recovery, coping with ADHD and other behavioral
disorders, and improving communication within
the family. She has served a consultant
to local school districts on topics such as
behavioral management in the classroom, suicidal
risks in adolescents, and self-injurious
behavior.

Robin
L. Myers, Psy.D |
Dr.
Myers is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist as
well as a Board Certified Specialist in Clinical
Psychology. She received her Psy.D. from the
Minnesota School of Professional Psychology
in 1999. Dr. Myers is a member of the National
Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology
and a member of the American Psychological Association.
Dr.
Myers specializes in working with adults and
adolescents. She provides individual psychotherapy
to patients utilizing cognitive-behavioral
interventions, interpersonal psychotherapy,
and supportive therapy to treat a variety
of emotional difficulties including depression,
anxiety, relationship issues, stress management,
anger management, adolescent adjustment disorders,
and personality disorders.
Dr.
Myers also conducts psychological assessments,
disability evaluations, and forensic examinations
of adults and adolescents. Psychological evaluations
consist of using cognitive and personality
instruments to provide written reports and
feedback helpful in determining differential
diagnosis, treatment prognosis, and recommendations
for the course of treatment. Forensic examinations
also include utilizing actuarial risk assessment
instruments in the determination of the level
of risk.

Mary
Phillips, MA, LCPC |
Mary
Phillips has been a Licensed Clinical Professional
Counselor since 1997. She received her Masters
Degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern
Illinois University in 1993. Mary is experienced
in child/adolescent and family therapy as
well as couples therapy. Mary is a Certified
Theraplay® Therapist and offers this
approach to families dealing with attachment
and relationship issues.Theraplay® is
a playful short-term treatment approach
to help children develop a secure, healthy
attachment to their parent or caregiver.
Mary has also received advanced training
to become a Gottman certified couples therapist.

Bryce
Sullivan, Ph.D. |
Dr.
Sullivan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
He received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology
from Ohio State University in 1997. He
is Associate Professor of Psychology and
Chairperson of the SIUE Department of
Psychology. Dr. Sullivan specializes in
working with adults and couples in treating
anxiety disorders, mood disorders, chemical
dependence, substance abuse, and other
emotional and behavioral problems. He
also conducts psychological assessments
and evaluations. Dr. Sullivan also conducts
forensic and pre-surgical weight loss
evaluations.

Dr. Sullivan conducts clinical assessments
for the purpose of answering specific
questions provided by the referral source.
Clinical assessments are helpful in determining
diagnoses, environmental and biological
causes of disorders, treatment prognosis,
and potential treatment-interfering psychological
and environmental conditions. Appropriate
treatment recommendations may be made
based on the results of a clinical assessment.
Assessments are tailored to the particular
concerns or questions provided by the
referral source and usually involve the
administration of various psychological
tests.
Cognitive assessments are used to provide
an evaluation of overall cognitive functioning
and specific cognitive deficits. This
type of evaluation can be helpful in identifying
learning disabilities, or identifying
intellectual strengths and deficits. A
cognitive assessment can be useful in
providing additional information about
patient's psychopathology, memory, coping
skills, emotional control, problem-solving
skills, judgment, and emotional functioning.

Devon Neal, B.A.
|
Ms. Neal is intake coordinator and the
office administrator for New Horizons.
She has a B.A. in Sociology and a minor
in Women's Studies. She has worked in
various capacities in the Social Work
field and enjoys connecting people with
services that can better the
quality of their lives.
