the needs of children and adolescents who are at risk
for future mental health issues, poor self-esteem, poor
work-place skills, substance dependence, and interactions
with the legal system. This group is also designed to
address issues relating to lack of confidence and social
shyness. The group will be facilitated by Tracy Ross,

Creative
Arts Process Group
This group is currently being designed to address behavioral
and emotional issues through creative art process. Art
therapy is based on the belief that the creative process
involved in the making of art is healing and life-enhancing.
Through the process of creating and talking about art,
one can increase awareness of self, cope with symptoms,
stress, and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive
abilities, and enjoy the pleasures of artistic creativity.
The group will be facilitated by two child and adolescent
therapists with backgrounds in art therapy.
Divorce
Survival Group for Children
New Horizons Behavioral Health, P.C. has developed a
divorce survival group that will be offered throughout
the upcoming year. This program is designed for children
to connect with other children going through similar
experiences. The group will utilize art making as a
way to identify and express their feelings about their
family's divorce. The group is also designed to empower
children to express their own needs to others and especially
to their parents. Parents will be invited to a separate
special "Mom" and "Dad" day to encourage
this expression and parent participation.
